About Dr. Luiz

After completing his specialization, he was a Fellow of the Reconstructive Urology Service at the Pedro Ernesto University Hospital (UERJ), where he perfected his knowledge and techniques, with an emphasis on urethral strictures, penile curvatures, gender-affirming surgeries (transgenitalization) and in genital aesthetic surgeries.

Since the beginning of his training as urologist, Dr. Luiz Augusto Westin has participated in numerous national and international Scientific Congresses, and held a leadership position in the Department of Reconstructive Urology of the Brazilian Society of Urology (SBU) – RJ, in 2018 /19. In 2019, he completed his training in robotic surgery with the aim of using cutting-edge technology to improve treatments for pathologies related to urogenital reconstructive surgery. Its work motto is to fully implement evidence-based medicine, always taking a holistic view of the patient.

He completed his Postgraduate Doctorate in Pathophysiology and Surgical Sciences at the Faculty of Medical Sciences at UERJ, is part of the Reconstructive Urology department at SBU-RJ and the Gender Reaffirming Surgery department at SBU Nacional.

He works as a Preceptor at the Reconstructive Urology Outpatient Clinic at HUPE/UERJ, where he dedicates much of his time to studies related to Urogenital Reconstruction and the training of new reconstructive urologists.

In his offices, in Barra da Tijuca and in downtown Rio de Janeiro, he works with private patients in General and Reconstructive Urology and, when necessary, performing surgeries in renowned hospitals in the city, such as Casa de Saúde São José , Pró-Cardíaco, Samaritano, Copa D’Or, Copa Star and in several other regions of Brazil, such as North, Northeast and Central-West.

He is one of the main doctors specializing in Reconstructive Urology in Rio de Janeiro.
